Introducing The WTF Breakdown

Introducing The WTF Breakdown

January 28, 20262 min read

If you’ve ever caught yourself thinking, “What the funk is going on with me?” — you’re in the right place. The WTF Breakdown exists for one simple reason: to help you recognize when you’re in a funk and know how to pivot out of it.

Because here’s what I’ve learned (through my own life and hundreds of coaching conversations): Most people don’t stay stuck because they’re broken or unmotivated. They stay stuck because they don’t realize they’re in a funk — or they don’t know what to do once they recognize it.

What I mean by “the funk”

A funk doesn’t always announce itself loudly. Sometimes it’s quiet. Sneaky. Highly functional. It can sound like:

  • “I’m functioning, showing up, and handling life… but it feels like I’m on autopilot.”

  • “Everything looks fine on the outside, but something about how I’m living or working doesn’t quite fit anymore.”

  • “I’m doing all the things, but I feel disconnected or exhausted.”

That space between going through the motions and feeling like yourself again? That’s the funk.

The Story Behind the WTF

Every episode of The WTF Podcast features a real story — mine, or someone else’s — that includes a moment where life throws a very clear WTF curveball.

A diagnosis.
A career pivot.
A relationship unraveling.

A season of burnout, grief, or emotional chaos.

The WTF Breakdown is where we take those stories a step further… to take the stories you hear on the podcast and turn them into something actionable. Here, we zoom out, identify the patterns that show up when people are in a funk, and walk through what it actually looks like to pivot—one honest, doable step at a time.

Stories help us feel less alone — but insight helps us move forward. In each post, I’ll break down:

  • The WTF moment from a podcast episode

  • The internal shift that had to happen

  • And the next best step that created momentum

Sometimes the pivot is subtle. Sometimes it’s brave. Sometimes it’s simply learning how to stop fighting yourself. But there’s always a pattern — and when you can recognize it, you can apply it to your own life.

The Bigger Mission

My mission is to equip 1M people with the tools to recognize when they are in funk, but more importantly, how to pivot out of it. This blog is part of that mission — a place where stories become mirrors and insight turns into action.

What you can expect here

Inside The WTF Breakdown, you’ll find:

  • Highlights and reflections from podcast episodes

  • Emotional and mindset patterns you can spot in your own life

  • Practical ways to move forward without burning out or breaking down

If a story from the podcast made you think, “Wait… that sounds like me,” this is where we pause, unpack it, and figure out what’s next. I’m really glad you’re here.

Let’s break it down — and take the next best step.
